RED LINE BLUES is a pocket-size journal published out of Asheville, North Carolina, and Brooklyn, New York, by Moriah Norris-Hale, Erich Nagler, and Benjamin Yanes. Each issue tackles a new theme through a number of different voices. The current issue is Lean Times.

Store

Red Line Blues now has its very own online store! Gone are the days of our Sears-Roebuck distribution system (Please send check or money order...). Click here to check out the wares.

Downtown Books and NewsAnd for those of you in the Asheville area, you can find Red Line Blues on the shelves at Downtown Books & News on Lexington Avenue. Other retailers interested in carrying Red Line Blues — please drop us a line! We’re always interested in reaching new readers (and writers).

The Current Issue

“Lean Times” is the theme of the current issue of Red Line Blues. Now that nearly two years have limped by since Lehman went belly up, we’re marking the era with the theme “Lean Times” — through prose, poetry, photos, and prints that illuminate our recent [in]securities, and tell the tales of staying afloat in the downturn. Click the cover (top-left) to take a peek at the contents.

Previous Issues

We’re real proud that Red Line Blues is now on its seventh issue! You can click the covers on your left to see the contents of each issue. Just about all of the issues are still available (while supplies last) in our online store.

And, look for a couple of [musical] surprises waiting on the other side of Red Line Blues 4: Hole In the Wall.

Submissions

The content of each issue of Red Line Blues is chosen through an open call for entries on the given theme. We announce the theme a few months before submissions are due. All are invited to submit work on the theme, in any genre or medium. (A gentle note: Submitted works are subject to light editing.)

Look for the theme of the next Red Line Blues to be announced here real soon. Submissions can be sent to editor@redlineblues.com.
